Flower Child

I am a sucker for floral prints. It doesn't matter what the occasion, I can typically be spotted sporting something doused with the "It" floral print of the season. I am also a sucker for the fabulous Rachel Roy, so it is a no brainer that one of my go to looks is this floral print dress by Rachel herself. Not only is it cute to look at, but super soft and cozy as well. This dress can be worn casually to class with a beige cardigan or dressed up with a bold necklace and loafers for the office. Every girl can
appreciate a feminine, yet practical dress like this.

Street Style Inspired

In my attempts to come up with a new and fabulous outfit for work every day, sometimes a little inspiration is necissary. Where better to find that inspiration than street style blogs? I combined a few looks I liked to come up with one all my own, using pieces I already had in my closet.

Hip Nails For The Faint At Heart

Nails have become a new canvas for the fashionably imaginative. Bright colors are all the rage and sparkling designs adorn the finger tips of the style conscious. Of course not everyone may be as inclined to try out this new trend. Inspired by the growing interest in fanciful manicures, I have decided to take the plunge by testing out a new design each week and adding it to my blog.
I am going to take it slow, however, and begin with a two sparkling fingers over a pale purple hue. It is Zoya's "Megan" hue along with a sparkle top coat by Sephora brand. I like only adding the sparkles to a few nails because it looks more mature and does not end up looking like over kill. (Hint!) Always add a bit of sparkles over a chipped manicure to ensure longevity! Because taking it off and starting all over is such a pain in the cuticle.

Business Casual The Summer Way

Working as a summer intern at a law firm may not pay the bills, but it sure is a valid excuse to dress to the nines every morning. Day after Day, night after night, I have been playing assistant to some impressive and inspiring local attorneys in hopes of learning all I can in order to achieve my own goal of eventually becoming a fashion patent/trademark attorney. My "morning after look" cannot be even the slightest bit disheveled in such a professional atmosphere
Aside from spending my supposed "lazy" summer days heading to court and reviewing cases, I do enjoy putting the perfect ensemble together that borders somewhere glamorously between business and casual. Adding a luxurious bag, like this fabulous Rebecca Minkoff mini M.A.C, takes the outfit up a notch on the style scale and will free up your hands to carry as many coffees as possible into the office when necessary. The bright oranges and pinks of this little silk jacket also stay on trend, as this summer's color pallet is all about loud hues. This is my rendition of how an intern should dress, sans the shoes. (Unless you live in Florida, where sandals are the norm)

Shear Love

Having the ideal pool side cover up is a true necessity for summer, but having one that doubles as dress is like a dream come true. This piece by one of my all time favorite lines, Rachel Rachel Roy, does just that. I can pair it with a tight black tank dress and run errands around town, or throw it on over a bikini and classic denim shorts. It is just as vital in any girls wardrobe as sunglasses are on a summer day.

The Essential Summer Shorts

These shorts scream summer and go perfectly with my nail color. As with most of my favorite pieces, they are also incredibly versatile. I can wear them to my internship with a crisp white button-up or style them like this for lunch in Palm Beach. The fabric is even supple and light enough to keep me cool all South Florida summer long.

Nails Match The Dress

So I have recently fallen in love with this Zoya nail polish color. It is the definition of summer and shines like a diamond. Until I decide to call this color quits, I am going to be planning all my outfits around it. Hopefully it won't be easier said than done. Like this color? The Little Sweater That Could

Even though I fear the whole "holes in my sweater" trend may soon be on the way out, I still adore this little gem by "Hearts and Crowns" that I purchased at a small high end boutique on Park Avenue in Winter Park, Florida. I wore it all winter with my riding boots and black skinnies, but it has now made it's way into my summer intern wardrobe. It always gets compliments at the office and keeps me just warm enough in chilly air conditioned Florida buildings. This versatile piece is a must-have. I have seen a similar one at Tobi.com for only around forty bucks, which basically makes it a necessity.

Because it is Almost Friday, Time For a Spiced Watermelon Mojito.

  • This is my own personal twist on a classic summer favorite. Enjoy!

  • Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 handfuls mint leaves
  • 1-1/2 to 2 ounces of spiced rum
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 can club soda
  • Approx. half of a watermelon pureed (Depending how fruity you want to get)

      Getting Started

  1. Mix 1 cup water with 1 cup sugar together in a pan and heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Let it steep with a handfull of mint leaves for around an hour.
  3. Strain out the leaves and store the liquid in the fridge till cocktail hour.
  4. When you are ready, pour the 1 ounce mint-infused simple syrup you just made into a tall glass.
  5. Add a handful of mint leaves, and stir.
  6. Add crushed ice and stir again.
  7. Add to that 1-1/2 to 2 ounces of spiced rum (the more the better, if you ask me)
  8. Add your pureed watermelon chunks.
  9. Squeeze the lime into the drink.
  10. Add a splash of club soda and stir once more
  11. Garnish with a mint sprig and a slice of lime.
  12. Start sipping!!
